A closer look at the materials compatible with the LaserKube-X machine

The LaserKube-X is a fiber laser marking machine designed to meet the demands of modern production workshops. Thanks to its fiber laser source, it offers outstanding precision, reliability and, above all, broad compatibility with industrial materials.

But just what materials can you mark, engrave or identify with the LaserKube-X? That’s what we’re going to find out together in this article. Knowing which materials are compatible with the LaserKube-X will enable you to take full advantage of your machine’s capabilities.

Why a fiber laser source?

Before listing the materials, let’s quickly recall what a fiber laser is. Unlike CO₂ or UV laser sources, the fiber laser uses an ytterbium-doped optical fiber to generate a very fine, stable and powerful beam.

This type of technology is particularly well suited to metallic materials, but not only. It also enables rapid, non-contact marking, with excellent durability over time.

Metals compatible with LaserKube-X

Metals are the family of materials most compatible with LaserKube-X. Here’s an overview of the most commonly used metals:

1. Steel (stainless or not)

Whether stainless steel, raw steel or galvanized sheet metal, the fiber source enables black or white marking, depending on settings.
✅ Applications: identification of mechanical parts, traceability codes, durable logos.

2. Aluminum

Widely used in industry, aluminum responds well to fiber laser.
➡️ Please note, however, that anodized parts give better results.
✅ Applications: nameplates, electronic parts, enclosures.

3. Copper and brass

Although reflective, these metals can be marked effectively with a quality fiber laser like the LaserKube-X.
✅ Applications: connectors, electrical components, decorative elements.

4. Titanium

This metal is ideal for technical marking (codes, serial numbers) or aesthetic marking (color effects using laser oxidation).
✅ Applications: medical, aerospace, jewelry.

5. Zinc, nickel, chromium

All these metals and alloys can be marked to a fine finish.
✅ Applications: precision parts, treated surfaces, chrome plating.

And plastics?

Although LaserKube-X is optimized for metals, some industrial plastics are also compatible, provided they are formulated to react to the fiber laser. Here are just a few examples:

1. Laser-pigmented plastics

Plastics such as PA (polyamide), ABS or polycarbonate, enriched with additives, react very well to fiber lasers.
✅ Result: high-contrast, legible, burr-free marking.

2. Black or dark gray plastics

These tints absorb the beam energy well, giving a good visual rendering.
⚠️ On the other hand, transparent or very clear plastics are unsuitable for this type of source.

What about other materials?

Although the LaserKube-X is not designed for non-metallic materials, some uses are still possible with the right settings:

✔️ Technical ceramics

Certain substrates can be marked, particularly in the electronics and medical industries.
🔍 Test recommended before any series.

✔️ Electronic boards (PCBs)

If the top layer is compatible, rapid marking is possible without damaging the surface.

❌ Wood, leather, glass

These materials don’t respond well to the beam of a fiber laser. For them, it’s best to opt for a CO₂ or UV laser.

In a nutshell

The LaserKube-X is a high-performance machine designed for fast, clean and durable marking on the vast majority of industrial metals. It is also suitable for certain engineering plastics, under certain conditions. Its versatility makes it an ideal solution for production workshops looking for a compact, reliable tool with no consumables.

Whether you need to mark a series of parts, customize components or optimize your traceability, the LaserKube-X offers great flexibility and excellent value for money.
